Meet Cecil Hammond, the brain behind Pepsi Rhythm unplugged

Cecil Hammond is the Chairman of Flytime Promotions, sponsors of big time entertainment events among which is Rhythm Unplugged, unarguably the biggest show in West Africa.

Flytime Promotions is one of the foremost names in live entertainment and music promotion in Nigeria today.

CEO, Cecil Hammond started organising concerts and promoting artists over 12 years ago and under his management. Flytime has hosted some of the most successful live entertainment events in Nigeria, working with both local and foreign artistes.

Hammond  brought Wyclef Jean to the 2013 Rhythm unplugged’s edition and Treyz Song for the 2015 edition.

Year on year, Flytime continues to deliver, raising the bar in live entertainment and bringing global standards to the Nigerian music entertainment scene.

Let’s not forget that Africa’s top female artists, Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay also started their careers in Nigeria signed to Flytime. What people don’t know also is Hammond gave Davido made his first big break in the when he was signed to Hammond’s label.

In an interview with a Lagos based newspaper, when asked how he started, he said

“My father gave me the first money I ever spent. I can’t remember how much . But it wasn’t the millions that we spend today. It was around a hundred thousand Naira. Then, my neighbours were the owners of Lindsel so it was cheaper. After that, the show became a success. Then I decided to take it out of Lagos to other places. I left SilverBirds to concentrate on building my brand. I did the next show with D’banj, then Basket Mouth and others.

Later, I became tired of the big shows because people just want a cool and nice place, not a rowdy place. So, I bought a banter with Eko Hotel. And at that time, people wanted to know about D’banj and his Koko style. I established Koko L’ounge”.
