According to reports in Spain, Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Steven N’zonzi from Sevilla.
The Frenchman has not featured for the Spanish outfit since a first-half collapse during Sevilla’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool. N’zonzi, who was substituted by manager Eduardo Berizzo at half-time claims he’s had a falling out with his boss.
El Gol Digital claim Arsene Wenger’s could finalise a deal for the defensive midfielder in January.
The 28 year-old was not in the squad for Sevilla’s 5-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend, but the La Liga club’s president Jose Castro believes the breakdown in the relationship between the the French international and the coaching staff is not irrevocable. However, he is adamant the Spanish side won’t sell him for any less than the €40m release clause in his contract.
Signing N’zonzi could spell the end for Francis Coquelin – the midfielder has been used sparingly by Wenger this season.
