Watch Obasanjo Dances With His Wife At Graduation Party (pics & video)

By Muyiwa Olayinka

When next you see former President Olusegun Obasanjo, you dare not address him a General. He’s now Dr Olusegun Obasanjo. This is not a honorary title as many would want to beleive, but he actually earned it.

When some few years ago after leaving government, as his term expired, he enrolled in Open University, NOUN, a school he helped to restructure and revitalized after many years of dormancy.

Many did not take him serious. They thought it was a publicity stunt or one of the jokes/ stunts that the retired general was famously known. But he concetiously and doggedly pursued his career. He warned the authority not to give him preferential treatment. He sat in the class, carried his bag containing his materials, just like any other student. He studied hard burning midnight hour despite his busy schedules as an elder statesman and an international figure.

He got his masters, he did not stop there, he continued until he completed his thesis and was rewarded with Doctorate degree in Christian Theology. He told dignitaries present at his graduation party, that he had more than 10 honorary degrees from notable institutions all over the world. Obasanjo had set the pace for the popularity of acquiring education through distance learning. While Baba has not told us what he intends to do with his Doctoral degree, don’t be surprised if we see Baba mounting the pulpit and turn out to be another Daddy GO or Baba GO.

Or could Baba go back to classroom in his expansive Olusegun Obasnjo Hilltop sprawling estate and become a resource person for seminars and workshops.

To show that Baba is happy with his new acquisition or conquest, Baba or is it Dr Olusegun Obasanjo took to the dancing floor with his wife, to celebrate.

Kudos to the first and the oldest ‘Doctor ‘ from NOUN.

This is a challenge to all that one can never be too old to acquire education or skills. While we are alive, we continue to learn. Nigerians whether you are a youth or not, education is key. It opens doors to boundless opportunities.

Congrats Baba
