My Valentine, Your Valentine (pics)

Today is February 14th another Valentine that is observed all over the world.

It is a day specially set aside to celebrate love and expressed it with our loved ones, friends, families, acquittances, neighbors and others that we are associated with.
Nigeria will not be different despite the excruciating pangs of recession. Trust Nigerians, no matter what, harsh, bad or tough, we create ways of enjoying ourselves.

Those who call us the most happiest people on earth did not make mistake.
Though Valentine day is meant to show love to all, but those in romantic relationships use this opportunity to express love to each other. It is not out of place you see two people in romantic relationships holding hands fixing a date, to express their love in various ways.

Some private schools in Nigeria establish this act of sharing gifts amongst pupils, to encourage them to imbibe the act of sharing.

Some religious institutions organise programs to keep their youthful members from ‘immoral acts’. Coincidentally, today in Nigeria, is the Ash Wednesday, the day Catholics set aside for the commencement of Lenten period.

In addition, today is the quarter final European Champions league match between the two Europeans giants, Real Madrid Fc, of Spain and PSG of France.
Nigeria a deeply religious state and also lover of the round leather game, football, some Nigerians inadvertently feel these events will have adverse effect on this year’s  celebration of Valentine.
Some women and ladies could probably wear long faces today because of obsession of Nigerian men with football.
Be that as it may, there are some group of service providers that will cash in on the festivities of Valentine. They are sure of making bountiful sales on this special occasion. Check them out

1 Telecom service providers: GSM companies will be reaping the benefit of Valentine season. Phone calls and text messages will be criss crossing networks. Have you received any phone call or text message today?

2 Florists: People send flowers to their friends, parents, lovers to express their feelings. Although it is not too common with Nigerians to send flowers as expression of love, but some will not be left because they love flowers. Is your flower vase already full of flowers?

3 Restaurateur: Many eatery joints and restaurants will be filled with people today. Many will come for lunch, dinner and for different cuisines. Where are you going to be tonight?

4 Bakers: Different cakes in sizes and shapes will be ordered for. Home delivery or takeaways? Others such as Shawarma, Pizza etc are not excluded.

5 Lingerie/ Underwear: To you is funny? But it’s a fact. Both male and female do shop for Valentine to spice up their sex lives. Sexy house wear, lingerie such as sexy pants, see through blouses, pyjamas, chemise tops,etc.

6 Gift shops: Gifts such as perfumes, deodorants, bags, shoes, even consumables like bottles of wine are ways of showing appreciation and love. Have you visited any gift shops for your loved ones?

7 Bars/Pub houses: Some bars will be filled with revelers that will love to drink wine, arrays of spirits and alcoholic drinks. It could be spiced with Suya, Asun, smoked fish, Fresh fish, Nkwobi, Isi ewu etc.

To cap it all, have you seen people around you wearing red apparels, clothes, tops or gowns. Roses are red, so if you got it, why don’t you flaunt it.
Peeps go out and have fun, but please play safe and protect yourself.
