That’s the view of super-agent Pini Zahavi, who acted as intermediary in Neymar’s blockbuster move from Barcelona to PSG last summer.
Reports suggest the Brazilian is already unhappy in the French capital with Real Madrid and Barcelona rumoured to be interested in bringing him back to Spain.
But that would be a backward step according to Zahavi.
Neymar left Barcelona after reports suggested he was disappointed at constantly playing second fiddle to Messi.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the main man at Real Madrid
And Zahavi believes it would be the same old story should he return to Spain at either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“Neymar did what he had to,” Zahavi told Polish outlet Przeglad Sportowy. “There are only three football superstars – Messi, Cristiano and Neymar. They can’t play in one club.
“At Barca, Ney always was the No. 2. He was the second to shoot from free kicks, second to the penalties, second to everything.
“He came to Spain as a young boy. He grew up. Now he’s 26 and has eight or nine years at the top level. He needs independence.”
Neymar has shown in his first season in Ligue 1, netting 19 goals before fracturing his metatarsal in February
Ronaldo and Messi as always have impressed in La Liga. Messi has 29 goals for Barcelona while Real Madrid’s Ronaldo has 23
Neymar has never played alongside Ronaldo.
