Thinking Of How My Dad Died Breaks My Heart, Odibi’s Daughter (pics)

Late Otike Odibe & his killer wife on wedding day

Fifteen-year-old Tamara Odibi broke down in tears as her father, Mr. Sym Otike- Odibi, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his third wife, Mrs. Udeme Otike-Odibi, at their Diamond Estate, Sangotedo area of Lagos State, was lowered into the earth. The teenager, who was escorted by her mother, was dressed in black.

She described her late father as, “my best friend.” This was even as Reverend John Akinjide Adeyemo of Victory Baptist Church, Ajah, implored family members of the deceased, not to seek vengeance for Odibi’s murder.

The pastor spoke during the funeral service of Odibi, held at Victoria Garden Cemetery, Ajah. As the pallbearers lowered the casket into the ground, Odibi’s first wife, Irvine, Tamara, friends and family members burst into tears.

Tamara said: “My dad put a hundred and one percent dedications into everything he did, which is one of the many reasons he will never be forgotten. I have never known anyone to love me the way he loved me, and it breaks my heart to even begin to imagine this happened to him.

“But thinking of the love he has for me comforts and helps me to keep it together. My dad also wouldn’t want anyone close to his heart to dwell on this, which is why in as much as it hurts, we should be strong for him.

My dad is irreplaceable in every way. As a father, brother, son, and friend, he remains in our hearts. No matter what, he will always be a part of our lives.” Mrs. Bose Odibi, a family member of the deceased, wept: “Our breadwinner has been killed. We’re going to miss him.

Even though the state government is prosecuting the wife, we, the family members are going to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion. We don’t want our brother to die in vain.

We are not going to allow the case to be swept under the carpet. We have lost a brother and a friend. We, the family members, are going to sit after this burial and think about the next plan.”

Odibi’s schoolmates, Class of 79, in their tribute, described him as a kind soul, too gentle to deserve what happened to him. The tribute reads: “We wish we could roll back the curtains.

The hours since we heard of the sad events have been really depressing with horrific thought of what you would have experienced during your last moments. But God knows best, for us your Class 97 family, we salute and will remember you for the good times.”
