See Nude Cyclists Protesting Car Culture & Pollution (pics)

Hundred of cyclists in London are set to strip naked and mount their bikes for an unusual protest against car culture and oil dependency on Saturday.

The London stage of the World Naked Bike Ride starts from six separate points around the capital tomorrow afternoon, with nude or semi-nude riders set to finish at Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner around 5.30pm.

Organisers claim the protest, which will cause disruption to roads in the centre of London, is aimed at raising awareness about the safety of cyclists while calling for action on climate change.

Participants have been urged only to strip naked until the demonstration moves off so they don’t upset authorities.

“There is no law against nudity in Britain, but please don’t exercise your right to nudity in London before the ride, as it will impact on our ability to make arrangements with police,” a light-hearted web post about the event asks.

“Feel free to undress in the UK at any other time of the year, as this will not have any impact on the WNBR.”

Previous events in London and elsewhere in the world have seen cyclists coated in body paint, emblazoned with tongue in cheek messages including “No fumes” and “Burn bras not fuel”.

Cyclists will set off on the roughly nine mile ride from start points at Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, King’s Cross, Clapham Junction, West Norwood and Tower Hill before joining up en route and finishing near Hyde Park.

“The finish area will not be a venue for prolonged naked socialising,” organisers warned.

“So when you’ve found your friends, taken your photographs and celebrated the highlights of the ride, please get dressed and move on to continue your celebrations elswhere”
