Disgraced American Televangelist Jim Bakker, Sells “Cure” For Coronavirus At $300 (pic & video)

The product is sold on Bakker’s website for US$125 but bundle packages sell for up to US$300.

United States televangelist Jim Bakker urged his followers Wednesday to buy a solution of colloidal silver to protect and cure themselves of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

The self-declared “pioneer of Christian television” had a guest on his show backing his claim and suggesting the product, which is sold on Bakker’s web store, is an effective cure for the virus.

“Well, let’s say [Silver Solution] hasn’t been tested on this strain of the coronavirus, but it’s been tested on other strains of the coronavirus and has been able to eliminate it within 12 hours,” naturopathic Dr. Sherrill Sellman said.

The guest went on to state that the solution “totally eliminates it. Kills it, deactivates it. And then it boosts your immune system so then you can support the recovery.” The product is sold on Bakker’s website for US$125 but bundle packages sell for up to US$300.

Information on the website does not state how the product is to be used. The label states that the solution contains deionized water, but no other ingredients, according to Newsweek.

Bakker is no stranger to fraud accusations. In 1989 he was convicted on 24 counts ranging from mail fraud, wire fraud and one count of conspiracy, after his evangelist program The PTL Club’s fundraising activities between 1984 and 1987 were reported of accounting fraud, eventually leading to criminal charges against Bakker.

The popular televangelist got eight years in federal prison and was paroled in July 1994, after serving almost five years of his sentence. He currently hosts The Jim Bakker Show, which focuses on the end time and the Second Coming of Christ while promoting emergency survival products.

With regards to the Covid-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said that there is no medicine or vaccine yet to counteract the novel virus and that a possible vaccine could be ready in at least 18 months.

The cluster of the novel disease was initially reported on Dec. 31 has been linked to Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan. Authorities linked wild animals sold at the market as the likely source of the virus.

The clinical signs and symptoms reported are mainly fever, with a few cases having difficulty in breathing, and chest radiographs showing invasive pneumonic infiltrates in both lungs.

As of  Thursday , over 60,327 cases of the virus were confirmed with 1,369 deaths across the globe.
