A mild drama played out on Channels TV Sunrise Daily programme on Thursday, when the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina and the National President of Revolutionary Lawyers Forum, Mr Tope Akinyode were invited to air their views on the mass protest tagged #RevolutionNow.
During the programme, the two exchanged words over the protests that took place in various parts of the country on Wednesday which also got many protesters arrested by the Nigerian DSS, Police and Army.
Akinyode responded to Adesina statement on the definition of revolution. He mocked him for having a shallow understanding of the concept of revolution despite being a veteran journalist.
The lawyer said, “We have to forgive Mr. Adesina and the Buhari government for all the things they speak. They don’t understand these things. They are bereft of the fundamental workings of democracy and the rule of law. They don’t know what protest means, they can’t appreciate it
Adesina while responding to the blast, warned the host of the programme never to invite him again to Channels TV programme without first telling him who he will debate with.
“Let me make this point, channel TV should have been ethical and professional enough to tell me that I was appearing with somebody, and I could then decide whether I wanted to appear or not to appear.
The way this young man is talking, If I had a chance I wouldn’t want to share a platform with him, because he is irascible, he is irrational, he doesn’t understand and I could have decided whether I was appearing with him or not.
