The occupants of a car, who emerged alive after a “40-ft container” fell on their vehicle and crushed it, have spoken out days after the incident.

Three friends – two women and one man – ordered a ride on Bolt on Sunday, September 19.

However, in the course of their journey earlier this week, a “40-ft container” fell on their car and crushed it.

Despite being in the car beneath the container for hours, all 4 occupants emerged alive.

The ladies have now taken to Instagram to thank God for their lives while sharing footage of the wreckage they were pulled out from.

They also shared footage of themselves in hospital, receiving treatment after the accident.

Four persons miraculously survived in Lagos on Sunday when a truck bearing a 40ft container fell on the car in which they were riding in Ojuelegba area.

The development was confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps and Lagos State Traffic Management Agency.

According to the Lagos Sector Command of the FRSC, the crash occurred around 6:38pm at Ojuelegba inward Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue.

It involved a 40ft containerized truck (DAF blue color) and a Toyota Camry with registration number KRD 822 FZ.

The crash left all the four occupants of the car trapped under the fallen truck until they were rescued and attended to by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services.

The recovery was carried out by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency forklift with the support of response teams of the FRSC, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police and LASTMA.

The Sector Commander FRSC Lagos Sector Command Corps, Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, warned owners of articulated vehicles that are not maintaining minimum safety standards to keep such off the road for the sake of innocent motoring public or face the wrath of the law.

Ogungbemide reaffirmed that the crash would have been more devastating if not that the container was properly twist locked.

He commended all the rescue agencies for their swift response that assisted in rescuing all the trapped victims alive.

He further commended the Lagos State Government for the availability of the state-of-the-art rescue equipment that made the operations seamless.

He advised all motoring public to be more careful, “especially as we enter the peak of the end of year activities”.
