The Afro-House star opened up about growing up in a polygamous household and how her father’s assassination affected her family.

Niniola painted a picture of a childhood filled with love and support despite the complex family structure. “Growing up was fun. My father married three wives, so I have three mothers. When my dad was assassinated, they took care of us. I’m very grateful to my mothers, God bless them,” she shared, showing deep appreciation for the women who raised her after her father’s death.

The singer also spoke about the lessons she learned from living in such a large household. “I have nine siblings. At some point in our house, we couldn’t be stringy,” she explained, describing how having so many family members taught them important values about sharing and caring for one another.

When asked about healing from her father’s death, Niniola’s response revealed the depth of pain that still exists decades later. “I haven’t healed. There is one of his relatives that looks so much like him. Every time I see that man, I feel like running away. I miss my dad, and I will never forget him,” she admitted, showing how the trauma of losing her father continues to affect her even today.

Niniola’s father, Simeon Apata, was a retired Nigerian Army officer and school proprietor who was assassinated in 1995 when she was still young. His death left a lasting impact on the entire family, but the support system created by her three mothers helped the children navigate through the difficult period.

Niniola’s father’s background as both a military officer and educator clearly influenced her own values, particularly her commitment to education through her charity work. The foundation she runs, called Adopted Child Education, continues the educational legacy that her father started during his lifetime.
