MKO Abiola Framed Fela Kuti For Robbery, Wanted Him Killed, Seun
One of the sons of Afro-beats legend, Fela Kuti, Seun, has disclosed how the late MKO Abiola and his wife, Simbiat, framed his father up for armed robbery during the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari.
Seun claimed that Abiola and Simbiat accused Fela of stealing their Ferrari car at gunpoint.
During Buhariโs military era, his Deputy Head of State, Tunde Idiagbon, ensured the enforcement of laws that made armed robbery punishable by death.
However, Seun said Fela escaped the setup because he was performing in Cameroon while the Abiolas raised the allegation at a police station.
In a live Instagram post, Seun Kuti said: โAbiola and his wife, Simbiat, lied against Fela that he and his boys robbed her of her Ferrari at gunpoint under Idiagbonโs regime. This was Abiola and his wifeโs plan to kill my dad because, under Idiagbon, armed robbery was punishable by death.
โAbiola and Simbiat wrote a statement at a police station that they saw Fela and his gang rob her at gunpoint. This led to Felaโs arrest which is punishable by death, but luckily for Fela, he was performing in Cameroon the very day Simbiat was lying about the theft. Fela escaped the case because he canโt be in two places at the same time; its either heโs on a stage in Cameroon or robbing in Lagos.
โResponding, Fela and my elder brother, Femi, took 12 buckets of faeces go and listen to his song โ give me shit, I give you shit โ then you will have a better understanding. They took it to Abiolaโs house in the middle of the night and smeared his compound.
โThe next day, the police visited my fatherโs house saying they came to investigate the shit-show in Abiolaโs house the previous day. But Fela denied the act saying if given the opportunity, he would smear Abiolaโs house with faeces.โ
